The properties of the fabric mean that it can be used in many ways in different weather conditions. Characteristic fringes on the edges of the scarf protect against unraveling of the material.

Arafatka, also known as  Keffiyeh  or  Shemagh , is a traditional Arabic head covering - a square piece of material, usually cotton, which can be folded and wrapped around the head in various ways.
